This course provides a practical introduction to Centrifugal Gas Compressors, including their performance characteristics and operation within process plants.  It features a variety of exercises, workshops, and dynamic computer simulation models of compression systems.  A number of case studies are utilized to give delegates a real-world experience and allow them to solve problems for themselves.

Designed for participants with little to no prior knowledge of centrifugal gas compressors, this course is ideal for new graduates entering the workforce.  It is also well-suited for engineers, operations, and maintenance personnel who are responsible for the day-to-day operations and maintenance of centrifugal compressors.

The key topics covered in this course are…

  • Compression Principles
  • Process & Control Description
  • Computer Operations
  • Mechanical Design
  • Instrumentation & Control
  • Simple Anti-Surge Control
  • Recycle Valve Sizing
  • Compressor Protection & Complex Anti-Surge Control
  • Compressor Operations
  • Case Studies

The course is scheduled for online delivery in a live and instructor-led format.  It IS NOT a self-paced or e-learning course.  The instructor will be live with the delegates for the entirety of the course, allowing for the same level of engagement as in-person courses.  Upon registration, a course manual and laptop to run the simulation models will be shipped to you.  For more details on these procedures, click here

The instructor for this course is Mark Dixon, the Managing Director and one of the Trainers at ESD Simulation Training.  Mark has over 25 years of experience delivering training courses with ESD.  He is a Chartered Gas Engineer and a member of the Institution of Chemical Engineers (IChemE).  For more information on our instructors, click here
